Our Story...

His Story

Christopher McLeod, Sr.

Elbows and crabshells - that's what I remember when I think about the first time I met Mio. We met at a FAMU Homecoming house party in 2003 held by my niece Michelle. I noticed Yanela sitting at the kitchen bar eating crabs. She had accumulated quite a pile of shells. I struck up small talk and we eventually ended up cleaning the kitchen together. I called her at work the next day, and we talked for quite awhile. The rest is history. I cared about Mio from the moment I met her. I am glad I went to the party.  I appreciate the way she treats my children and her relationship with my mother. I am going to be very proud to call Yanela my wife.

Her Story

Yanela "Mio" Gordon

I don't know why I was nervous when Chris walked through the door, but I was instantly shy when I saw him. There was something about him. I tried not to be noticed by focusing on the crab legs I was eating, but apparently that only made him notice me more. He made his way over to my side of the room and started a conversation. He was pretty funny. We ended up cleaning the kitchen together. I was impressed by his cleaning skills. I am glad I went to Michelle's house party in 2003. It is literally where I met my husband. He is patient, supportive and calming. I appreciate him and thank God for helping me grow into the woman who is ready to build a family and life with Chris.
